Ad zone
An ad zone (or placement) is a named slot of ad inventory — a banner position on a site, a push subscription list, a pop stream — registered in an ad server. Each zone gets its own serving tag or URL, its own statistics, and its own settings, making it the basic unit for managing and pricing publisher inventory.
How it works
A publisher (or the network operator on their behalf) creates a zone per placement, then embeds the zone's ad tag or direct URL where the ad should appear. Campaigns target zones — explicitly or via targeting rules — and the ad server picks which eligible campaign serves on each request.
Because impressions, clicks, and conversions are all logged per zone, zone-level reports answer the operational questions: which placements earn, which underdeliver, and which send traffic that never converts. Zone settings also carry operational levers like the traffic-back URL for unsold requests.
